Sports&Turf - Turfdry

Derbyshire-based natural sports turf specialist Turfdry provides industry-leading design, construction and drainage services across the UK. Established in 1995 by its current managing director and avid sports enthusiast Melvyn Taylor, the company is now the UK’s leading exponent of geotextile drainage systems for natural sports turf.

The sports fields of Salesian School, a Catholic co-educational comprehensive in Chertsey, Surrey, were recently top-dressed by Turfdry with 200 tonnes of British Sugar TOPSOIL’s Sports&Turf topdressing. Applied during the autumn of 2021 using specialist spreading equipment, the Sports&Turf – a 90/10 blend of sand with BS3882:2019-compliant topsoil - has improved drainage across the winter games pitches and encouraged new grass growth.

The pitches were originally constructed by Turfdry in 2019/2020 when periods of torrential rain created establishment problems with the sward. The company’s ongoing care and maintenance of the pitches, however, has delivered an excellent playing surface across the site.
