Dean Gibbons

Dean is a full-time civil engineer and says he needs to be highly organised to balance his voluntary work at the club with his day job and spending time with his young family.

He first began to take an interest in bowls when members of Wantage Bowls Club paid a visit to his primary school, and he took up the game aged 10.

Now aged 31, Dean is a trustee of the organisation. He has secured revenue through sponsorship deals, he manages the club’s social media posts, and maintains the quality of turf on the greens – a role he took over from the previous groundsperson eight years ago.

Dean and Wantage Bowling Club won the GMA Volunteer Team of the Year award in 2022.
