Joe works in the Programmes Team at the Premier League, The FA and Government’s Football Foundation. He leads the team who work on PitchPower, the Football Foundation's free pitch inspection web app; and works closely with key stakeholders (GMA, Rugby Football Union, Rugby Football League, England and Wales Cricket Board, Sport England and County FAs) to ensure that the service is a good experience for all users – from Grassroots Grounds Staff to Regional Pitch Advisors. Since joining the Football Foundation in 2022 to set up and launch the latest version of PitchPower, Joe and his team have designed a comprehensive service that allows clubs and organisations to detail their current equipment and maintenance activities and easily submit new inspections for grass pitches at their sites; and that also allows Regional Pitch Advisors easy access to review submitted information and compile bespoke reports. These reports indicate the current quality of the grass pitches at a submitted site and provide recommendations for maintenance activities that should be undertaken to improve grass pitches, and any equipment that may be required to undertake those tasks. Eligible organisations can then use these reports to access funding from the Football Foundation through the Grass Pitch Maintenance Fund.
