OUR HISTORY

WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

SALTEX, originally known as the National Association of Groundsmen Annual Exhibition, was first held in 1938 at the Hurlingham Club. Since then, it has evolved into Europe’s cutting-edge trade show for the grounds management, sports turf, and landscaping industries.

Despite an eight-year hiatus during WWII and a one-year break due to COVID-19, SALTEX has continued to grow, marking its 78th edition in 2025.

ADAPTING TO CHANGE

Innovation has been at the heart of SALTEX’s journey.

In 1979, the event moved from the Hurlingham Club to Windsor, reflecting the industry’s expansion.

In 1994, it officially adopted the name ‘SALTEX’ (Sports Amenities Landscaping Turf Exhibition) to better represent its diverse audience.

STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

SALTEX has evolved into the sector’s longest-running and largest trade show, attracting more exhibitors and visitors than any other event in the European grounds care industry.

A NEW ERA AT THE NEC

For its 70th anniversary, SALTEX relocated to the NEC Birmingham, responding to exhibitor and visitor demand for a more accessible, weatherproof, and globally connected venue. This move has solidified SALTEX as the go-to destination for industry innovation, networking, and business growth.
