78 YEARS OF TRADE SHOW EXPERIENCE

SALTEX, or the National Association of Groundsmen Annual Exhibition as it was originally named, was first held in 1938 at the Hurlingham Club. Despite an 8-year hiatus during the Second World War and a 2-year break during the Covid-19 pandemic, SALTEX, now in its 78th year, has been the leading event for grounds staff and those working in the grounds care sector since its launch over 85 years ago.

ADAPTING TO CHANGE

Since its first show, SALTEX has adapted to change and sought new ways to better serve the grounds care community. This has involved changing locations a number of times throughout its history, moving to Windsor in 1979 where it was eventually renamed to the Sports Amenities Landscaping Trade Exhibition, or SALTEX for short, in 1994.

EVERYTHING YOU WANT UNDER ONE ROOF

With visitor and exhibitor feedback suggesting that September was no longer the ideal time to host a trade show for the sector, and with Windsor being tricky for some parts of the country to travel to, SALTEX was moved to the NEC Birmingham for its 70th anniversary. At the NEC, visitors from across the globe could see all the exhibitors they wanted at a convenient, well-connected location and under one roof, without weather being able to disrupt the show.

MOVING FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH

Since then, SALTEX has grown from strength to strength and is now not only the longest-running trade show in the sector, but also the largest, attracting the highest number of visitors and exhibitors of any show for the grounds care sector in Europe.
